Climber in Training

The Climber In Training plays a critical role in supporting the crew while learning the skills required to become a professional climber and crew leader in the tree industry.

This position is designed for motivated individuals who want to build a long-term career in tree work. You will work directly alongside experienced climbers and crew leaders while learning climbing systems, rigging, tree removals, equipment operation, safety procedures, and efficient jobsite operations.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist climbers and crew leaders with tree removals, tree trimming, rigging, and cleanup operations
  • Learn proper climbing techniques, rope systems, and rigging procedures through hands-on training
  • Operate safely around chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, ropes, and heavy equipment
  • Assist with debris cleanup, property protection setup, and maintaining organized jobsites
  • Support efficient workflow by staying actively engaged and anticipating crew needs
  • Follow all company safety procedures and jobsite protocols at all times
  • Help maintain equipment and tools in safe working condition
  • Communicate clearly with crew members and supervisors during active job operations
  • Represent Tree Ya Later professionally while working on customer properties
  • Participate in ongoing training and skill development opportunities
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around heights, chainsaws, ropes, and heavy equipment
  • Positive attitude and coachable mindset
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team
  • Commitment to safety and following company procedures
  • Ability to take direction and apply feedback in a hands-on environment
  • Previous construction, landscaping, roofing, labor, or outdoor work experience is a plus — but not required
  • Be a Team Player: Assist crew members in all tasks
  • Driver's License & reliable transportation
