What Affects Tree Removal Cost

Every tree is different, which is why we quote in person instead of guessing over the phone. The estimate is free, and here's what moves the number:

• Size and height. A 30-foot ornamental and an 80-foot oak are different jobs entirely.
• Location and access. Open front yard? Easy. Backyard over the pool with a narrow gate? That takes rigging and time.
• Condition. Dead and brittle trees are less predictable and take more care than healthy wood.
• What's underneath. Roofs, fences, sheds, gardens, septic fields. Protecting them is part of the job.
• Stump plans. Removal quotes usually cover the tree to a low stump. Add stump grinding to finish the job completely.

In a growing number of Monmouth and Ocean County towns, yes. Many municipalities adopted tree removal and replacement ordinances in 2024 under the state's stormwater rules, and larger trees often require an application before they come down. Hazardous and storm-damaged trees are typically exempt, but every town writes its own rules.
