What a Tree Ya Later Estimate Actually Includes

An estimate is a real visit, not a number guessed over the phone. We walk the property, look at the tree from the ground and from every side, and check what is above it and underneath it. Then you get the price in writing before anything is scheduled.

• The full scope in writing. What comes down, what gets cut back, what gets hauled away, and what the site looks like when we leave.
• Cleanup included, stated plainly. Chips, brush, and debris are part of the quote, not a surprise add-on afterwards.
• Stump handled or not, your call. Most removals leave a low stump. Grinding it below grade is an easy add-on, quoted separately so you can decide.
• An honest answer on whether it needs to come down. Sometimes the right call is pruning or treatment, not removal. We will tell you that.

What Actually Drives the Price

Every tree is priced on the job in front of us, which is why nobody honest quotes a flat rate sight unseen. These are the things that move the number:

• Size and species. Height, trunk diameter, and how heavy the wood is.
• What is underneath. A tree over open lawn is a different job from one over a roof, a pool, a fence, or wires.
• Access. Whether we can get equipment to the trunk, or whether everything has to be rigged out by rope and carried.
• Condition. Dead, hollow, or storm-damaged wood is less predictable and has to be taken in smaller, more controlled pieces.
• Cleanup and disposal. How much material comes off the tree and where it has to go.

Before You Compare Quotes

If you are getting more than one price, compare what is actually in them. Ask whether cleanup and haul-away are included, whether the stump is in or out, and ask for the company's NJ Board of Tree Experts number. New Jersey requires tree care companies to be registered, and plenty of the crews knocking on doors after a storm are not. Ours is NJTC #939213, and you can verify it in the state's public directory.
